Benhamin 'The Birdman' Pearce

QUAD - September 2009

Name: Benhamin Pearce
Age: 9 [New Year’s Eve baby!]
Quad: Kymco Maxxer 90 - modified for racing
Club: Gravitylc
Favourite food: My dad’s roast dinners
Favourite drink Ribena
Favourite rider: Paul Winrow
Favourite track: Crediton
Dislikes: School homework

Biggest buzz: Racing for Gravitylc in the 2009 championship and racing on tracks like Corfe Castle and Crediton

Ambition: Short term - to finish in the top ten in 2009 championship and top five in 2010. Medium term - to progress to the 250cc class for 2011. Long term - to be as good as Paul Winrow and Richard Cole

Career overview: This is my first full season so I will use it to learn the tracks and how to race. I did some races late in 2008 purely for the experience. My dad has promised if I do well in 2009 he will get tuition from professional racers to help me improve my riding technique and race craft for 2010.

Special thanks to: My dad Russ for making everything happen and always supporting me.

Ben is called “the birdman” by all the marshals at Gravitylc as dad Russ put bird’s feathers in his goggle/helmet strap to make him recognisable during a very wet and muddy race at Henstridge Airfield when all the riders were indistinguishable due to the mud.  The mud washed off but the feathers have stayed as a good luck emblem.
